Vaccinations

Rabies: Your pets first Rabies Vaccination will always be a 1-year Vaccine. Future Vaccinations can be 3-year Vaccines.

In order to receive the 3-year, you much get the booster before the previous Vaccine expires. State Law requires a 1-year Vaccine be given if the previous Vaccine is even 1 day past the expiration date. Keep the Rabies Certificate some place secure, where you can find it. (it is a legal document) You may need it when traveling, moving or taking your pet to a new Veterinarian.

Dogs

Puppy Vaccination: We use Duramune max 5-CVK/4L This Vaccine covers the same 7 viruses as the Distemper Vaccine plus Coronavirus. Puppies need 3 boosters of this Vaccine around 3 weeks apart, ideally stating around 8 weeks old for full coverage.

Distemper (k-9): We use Duramune max 5/4L. This Vaccine covers 7 viruses. (Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus type-2, Parainfluenza, L.Canicola, L.Grippotyphosa, L.Icterohaemorrhagiae & L.Pormona) This is a yearly Vaccine beginning 1-year after the last Puppy Vaccine.

Bordatella: Also known as "kennel cough" If your dog goes to dog parks, boarding facilities or groomers, they should get this Vaccine. Kennel Cough is similar to bronchitis in humans. It's an air-born virus spread by a sick dog coughing sending virus into the air. Dogs in close proximity then breath in the virus and become infected.

Lyme: Lyme disease is spread by infected Ticks. If your dog spends a lot of time outdoors, goes with you camping or on hikes, you should consider this Vaccine. Ask your Veterinarian for more information.

Cats

Distemper (Feline): We use Fel-o-vax IV + Calici vax. This Vaccine covers 5 viruses (Feline Herpesvirus, Calicivirus (novel), Calicivirus (tradional), Panleukopenia & Chlamydia felis) Kittens should be given 3 boosters about 3 weeks apart starting at 8 weeks old. Then a yearly booster starting 1 year after the last kitten booster.

Feline Leukemia: Cats and kittens should be tested prior to being Vaccinated. Feline Leukemia is a disease that affects the immune system. It is spread from one cat to another though their saliva. Sharing food bowls, grooming each other, etc.

Spay & Neuter

Spays and neuters are scheduled in advance, as pets need to have food restricted after midnight the night before surgery. Pets are to be dropped off on the day of surgery between 8:00 and 9:00am. At that time, we will have you fill out and sign a consent form. Our staff will go over it with you, check to see if any Vaccinations are due (Rabies must be updated if needed) and explain why a pre-anesthesia blood profile may be recommended. Your pet will stay overnight and can be picked up any time after 10:00am the day after surgery. Dog Neuters typically have no sutures to be removed. Dog Spays will need to return to have the sutures or staples removed in 10 to 14 days at no additional charge. (you will need to schedule an appointment) Cat Spays and Neuters do not need to come back for sutures. (surgical glue or dissolvable sutures are used)

A Dental involves Sedating your pet so just like a Surgical procedure, you need to restrict food after midnight the night before your appointment. Drop off is also between 8:00 and 9:00am and pick-up is between 3:30 and 5:00pm.A Dental includes an ultrasonic teeth cleaning and any extraction that are necessary. Because your pet has been sedated, it's important to limit food and water until late in the evening. Pets may be groggy for several hours after they wake up.

Euthanasia / Cremation

We understand that Pets are family members and how difficult it can be to make the decision to Euthanize. We do our best to schedule your appointment at a time that works best for you and your family. For the comfort of your pet, we sedate before Euthanizing. Owners are welcome to stay though the whole process or may leave at any time after the consultation.

Owners may take their pets home to bury or have them Cremated. Cremated remains are returned in a decorative wooden box. We also offer "Clay Paws". We take an impression of your pets paw as a keepsake to remember your pet.
