Rabies: Your pets first Rabies Vaccination will always be a 1-year Vaccine. Future Vaccinations can be 3-year Vaccines.
In order to receive the 3-year, you much get the booster before the previous Vaccine expires. State Law requires a 1-year Vaccine be given if the previous Vaccine is even 1 day past the expiration date. Keep the Rabies Certificate some place secure, where you can find it. (it is a legal document) You may need it when traveling, moving or taking your pet to a new Veterinarian.
Dogs
Puppy Vaccination: We use Duramune max 5-CVK/4L This Vaccine covers the same 7 viruses as the Distemper Vaccine plus Coronavirus. Puppies need 3 boosters of this Vaccine around 3 weeks apart, ideally stating around 8 weeks old for full coverage.
Distemper (k-9): We use Duramune max 5/4L. This Vaccine covers 7 viruses. (Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus type-2, Parainfluenza, L.Canicola, L.Grippotyphosa, L.Icterohaemorrhagiae & L.Pormona) This is a yearly Vaccine beginning 1-year after the last Puppy Vaccine.
Bordatella: Also known as "kennel cough" If your dog goes to dog parks, boarding facilities or groomers, they should get this Vaccine. Kennel Cough is similar to bronchitis in humans. It's an air-born virus spread by a sick dog coughing sending virus into the air. Dogs in close proximity then breath in the virus and become infected.
Lyme: Lyme disease is spread by infected Ticks. If your dog spends a lot of time outdoors, goes with you camping or on hikes, you should consider this Vaccine. Ask your Veterinarian for more information.
Cats
Distemper (Feline): We use Fel-o-vax IV + Calici vax. This Vaccine covers 5 viruses (Feline Herpesvirus, Calicivirus (novel), Calicivirus (tradional), Panleukopenia & Chlamydia felis) Kittens should be given 3 boosters about 3 weeks apart starting at 8 weeks old. Then a yearly booster starting 1 year after the last kitten booster.
Feline Leukemia: Cats and kittens should be tested prior to being Vaccinated. Feline Leukemia is a disease that affects the immune system. It is spread from one cat to another though their saliva. Sharing food bowls, grooming each other, etc.
